I am pleased to announce that A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology has been selected as finalists in the 2018 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards in FIVE categories – Business of the Year, Young Business Executive, Excellence in Customer Service by the Whole Business, Start Up Superstar and Young Entrepreneur.

As passionate practitioners, loving what we do each day, this recognition from our local business community is really the icing on the cake.

Taking time to enter business awards can seem like a luxury when you run a business. You spend your time delivering the best possible service or product, cultivating a team of experts, and ensuring good returns on your output. These activities are often what fuel your sense of accomplishment. After all, you wouldn’t be in business if you didn’t enjoy what you do or felt fulfilled in some way.

But spending the time entering these awards have given the team and I an opportunity to evaluate the services we offer, our contribution to the local community, the stability of our business’ foundations, and of course, our prospects. Through the entry process, we have also been able to acknowledge and celebrate how far we have come.

A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology is proud of the high quality, evidence based and personalised speech pathology services that we provide to children and families. We are delighted to be recognised by independent judges for the hard work that we put into delivering successful outcomes for our families. As a relatively new business, the awards are a fantastic way to showcase our team and service to the boarder community, and we can’t wait to celebrate business excellence with our fellow entrepreneurs and colleagues at the Awards Gala Dinner.

Win or not, this is an experience we will value, and I encourage other business owners to take a chance, dedicate some time, and enter business awards in the future. Success really is that much sweeter when you can celebrate it with people you respect and admire.

🖍✂️📝For children with selective mutism, providing an alternative communication modality is so important to maximise participation in activities. I had a blast with Mr K today creating this awesome train with the support of a specific craft communication board. Mr K was able to indicate instantly what he needed (scissors, crayon, which colour etc) to complete the activity. The smile on his face when he completed the activity (and pointed to the ‘This is fun!’ visual) was priceless! ~Melissa :-) ... See MoreSee Less

🌳📚Mother Nature held off on the rain just long enough this morning for us to enjoy Stories in the Park! It was so lovely to see the same families return! We all had so much fun reading about animals and sharing the puppets (with a climb on the play equipment in between stories!). Thank you again to all who came. See you next month on Wednesday, 10th April for our next Stories Under the Tree 🙂 ~Melissa ... See MoreSee Less
