Intensive Speech Therapy to Support Your Child’s Development

Helping your child achieve their individual speech pathology goals is vital when it comes to the development of essential skills and growing their confidence.

A Growing Understanding offers families Intensive Speech Pathology Programs that are designed to help your child focus on targeted speech therapy goals over a condensed period. The areas we can focus on using this approach include:

  • Childhood Apraxia of Speech
  • Literacy Skills (reading and writing)
  • Oral Language Skills (story telling)
  • Transition to School
  • Speech Sounds

Our Intensive Speech Pathology Programs are generally offered during the school holiday period, but can be flexible to suit your family’s needs.

Our team of qualified Speech Pathologists utilise engaging activities, incorporating play and evidence-based practices, to ensure each intensive session is effective, fun and offers your child that all-important sense of achievement.

What is Intensive Speech Pathology?

Intensive Speech Pathology, also known as focused speech therapy, is a concentrated, high-frequency intervention designed to accelerate progress.

Typically, our Speech Pathologists work with children once a week, providing approximately 10 sessions per school term, to support steady, incremental improvements. Many children make fantastic gains with this regular approach.

However, for certain needs and specific speech and language difficulties, research suggests that a more intensive schedule, 3 to 5 sessions per week over a 3–6 week period, can lead to significant improvements in a shorter time.

At A Growing Understanding, we are dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care. Our Intensive Speech Pathology Programs are designed to offer focused, high-impact support during key periods, such as the holiday season, ensuring your child receives the boost they need to reach their goals sooner, all within a warm and supportive environment.

The Benefits of Intensive Speech Pathology

Our Intensive Speech Pathology Programs are designed to offer focused, high-impact intervention that accelerates your child’s progress and enhances engagement. These programs provide:

  • Accelerated Achievement: Concentrated practice over a shorter period can help your child reach their goals faster—often achieving milestones sooner than with less frequent therapy sessions.
  • Enhanced Engagement: More frequent sessions mean increased opportunities for corrective feedback and greater involvement in learning, boosting your child’s confidence.
  • Comprehensive Skill Coverage: Intensive programs allow us to address a broader range of skills and strategies within a condensed timeframe.
  • Flexible Holiday Intervention: They are especially beneficial during school holidays when schedules are more flexible, allowing you to focus on intervention without competing commitments.
  • Individualised Approach: Each program is tailored to your child’s unique interests and needs, ensuring a fun, engaging, and effective therapy experience.
