Your First Appointment at A Growing Understanding

Your First Appointment is typically a 50-minute consultation with one of our Speech Pathologists. This session gives you the chance to:

  • Discuss your child’s background, current challenges, and any goals or concerns you may have.
  • Understand how our services work and the support we can offer.
  • Collaborate with the Speech Pathologist to map out the best way forward.

In most cases, the first appointment is parent-only. Before the session, the Speech Pathologist will review your information and decide if it would be helpful for your child to attend. If so, we’ll get in touch to let you know.

At the end of this session, the Speech Pathologist will outline their recommendations, whether that’s an assessment, therapy sessions, or other supports, and provide a written Service Plan. Our friendly team will then help you organise the next steps.

Your Review Appointment at A Growing Understanding

A Review Appointment is for families who have accessed our speech pathology services previously and are looking to review where they are up to in their journey. This is a 50-minute consultation with one of our Speech Pathologists and gives you the chance to:

  • Discuss any new challenges, and any goals or concerns you may have.
  • Understand the support we can offer.
  • Collaborate with the Speech Pathologist to map out the best way forward.

At the end of this session, the Speech Pathologist will outline their recommendations and provide an updated Service Plan.

Please note: While we’ll do our best to keep your preferred time and speech pathologist consistent, booking a First Appointment or Review Appointment via the above system does not guarantee ongoing availability.
