Grow Connections and Sporty Skills

Sporty Speech Squad is a special interactive group that provides your child with an opportunity to explore different sporting skills and practice their individual communication goals in an ‘out of therapy’ setting.

With the support of a Speech Pathologist and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, this group is designed to teach your child about different sports and the skills associated with each sport, and encourage them to problem solve, experience team spirit and negotiate solutions with their peers.

This program is NDIS approved and will help your child practice the following skills:

  • Sporting skills – coordination, spatial awareness, grabbing, throwing, kicking
  • New vocabulary associated with team sports
  • Listening to and following multistep instructions
  • Generating and sharing ideas
  • Self advocacy skills including problem solving and communicating needs and interests

The Sporty Speech Squad group program will run over two 1-hour sessions and is ideal for children aged 5 to 8 years.

Presented in collaboration with Uplift Exercise Physiology, this group is a great way to help your child get excited about sporting activities and learn new skills.

Children attending the group program should wear comfortable clothing and sport shoes that they can move in and a bring their own water bottle.

Please note all group programs align with our COVID-19 Safety Plan and ensure the health and wellbeing of all attendees and staff members.

This group will be limited to a maximum of eight (8) children and two staff members. All attendees are required to follow our safety measures.

The next program will run at The Parc in Newcastle at the following dates and times:

Two-session Program
Session 1: Thursday 2 October 2025, 11.00am – 12.00pm
Session 2: Thursday 9 October 2025, 11.00am – 12.00pm

Each session will be held at The Parc, Newcastle:
Cnr Brooks St & Tooke St, Cooks Hill NSW 2300

Cost Range: $160 – $180 per client, per session

Based on NDIS guidelines and our service model, this range reflects factors such as group size (up to four clients per clinician), the inclusion of indirect time (planning and progress notes), and any applicable venue or entrance fees. Each group’s exact fee will be calculated according to the number of clients, clinicians, and the session’s duration.

This Group Program is delivered over two sessions. Families are required to commit to both sessions. 

This program is NDIS approved.
