Bush Buddies

Explore, connect, and communicate through shared experiences in nature.

Explore, Play, and Grow Language in Nature!

Get ready for a morning of discovery, play, and communication in the great outdoors with Bush Buddies, a nature-based group program for young children aged 2 to 4 years.

Held at the beautiful Blackbutt Nature Reserve, Bush Buddies invites little learners to explore, connect, and communicate through shared experiences in nature. Guided by our experienced speech pathologists, children will enjoy a nature walk to meet some native animals, join in shared reading, and participate in fun activities inspired by the environment.

This playgroup-style program is designed to nurture early communication and vocabulary development while encouraging curiosity, connection, and confidence.

Parents and carers are required to stay and participate, supporting their child as they explore, discover, and learn together.

This program is NDIS approved and with the support of experienced speech pathologists, will help your child practice the following skills:

  • Early communication skills – developing understanding and use of words in meaningful contexts.
  • Vocabulary building – learning new words related to nature, animals, and the environment.
  • Social interaction – engaging with peers and adults through play, songs, and shared experiences.
  • Receptive language skills – listening to and following simple instructions.
  • Expressive language skills – naming, describing, and sharing ideas about what they see and hear.
  • Attention and participation – joining in group activities such as stories, songs, and movement.

Through play, exploration, and connection with nature, Bush Buddies helps young children build the foundations for confident communication in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Bush Buddies is suitable for children aged 2–4 years and will be held at Blackbutt Nature Reserve.
