About Sarah Milliken
Sarah grew up and studied in Newcastle. After graduating from University with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours), Sarah was eager to work in a variety of settings. She gained extensive experience in both community and private settings within Sydney, where she focused on supporting children with disabilities.
Sarah has a strong passion for assisting children and their families to reach their communication and feeding goals. She offers ongoing support for all families so they become empowered and can navigate their speech pathology journey with confidence.
When I was younger, I always knew that I wanted to be a speech pathologist – there was no hesitation when asked the age old question, “so what do you want to be when you grow up?”.
I have always wanted a job where I can help people, but also a job where I can develop really strong, lovely working relationships with people. I love how broad speech pathology is, and how no day (or client!) is the same! I really enjoy working with children and their families, and celebrating all of the wins right along side them.
A Growing Understanding is incredibly warm and supportive. The team radiates positivity, and consistently does their best to support each other as well as their clients.
Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey. It’s dubbed as the Australian To Kill a Mockingbird! But my all time favourite children’s book is The Wonky Donkey. I know it off by heart!
At the beach, watching the sunset. The hill at Dickson Park is a perfect spot!
“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” – Roald Dahl
I once entered a cake decorating competition and WON!
