The skills and quality of care delivered within our industry is important to us. That is why A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology facilitates the delivery, monitoring and quality of practice of other professionals through the provision of professional and / or discipline specific supervision.
We provide clinical coaching and supervision to support the learning and growth of speech pathologists. Supervision creates an opportunity for the supervisee to reflect on their practice, gain a broader perspective, and to determine clinical and learning goals relevant to their current practice and skill set.
Our practice director (Lauren Haskins) is registered with Speech Pathology Australia to provide coaching and clinical supervision. This requires her to have at least five years of clinical experience and at least two years’ experience providing supervision to less experienced colleagues.
Speech Pathology Australia recognises the importance for all practising speech pathologists to access professional and discipline specific supervision throughout their careers. The association recommends that new graduate clinicians undertake a minimum of 1 hour of supervision weekly, and speech pathologists with 2+ years of experience to undertake a minimum of 1 hour of supervision every 2-4 weeks.
By offering clinical supervision, coaching and support to speech pathologists, we are working to ensure high standards of clinical services and accountability.
