Navigating your family’s speech pathology journey starts with understanding…

If you have noticed that your child isn’t speaking as clearly as their peers, or your child has just been diagnosed with a language delay; chances are you are asking “what is my next step?” Navigating your speech pathology journey can be daunting, but with the right advice and support, your next steps will be that much easier. The first thing to do is choose a speech pathologist you would like to work with, and then gain an understanding of the fees and funding options available to you.

If you would like to read more about navigating your speech pathology journey, click here to read our blog on this topic. In addition to this information, we have included some key fee and funding details on this page.

Fees

We pride ourselves on offering our families accurate and reliable information. That is why we take the time to discuss the fees that will apply to the services appropriate for your child. When we meet with you and your child, and gain an understanding of your budget, we can provide a true indication of any ongoing costs, and discuss available support systems including The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Private Health Cover

If you have a Private Health Care fund you may be eligible to claim a rebate for Speech Pathology assessment and therapy services. Contact your Private Health Care provider to find out more information.

Medicare

As registered Medicare providers, we can work with your GP to provide therapy under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. The CDM scheme is initiated by your GP, and is available to children and adults with Chronic Care needs. People with Autism are automatically eligible for CDM because an Autism Spectrum Disorder is considered a chronic condition. The Medicare rebate is available for five sessions of Allied Health therapy, including Speech Pathology, per calendar year.

Please discuss with your GP to confirm eligibility or click here for more information.

NDIS

A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology are Registered NDIS Providers which means you can access individual and group therapy services under a specific plan implemented for your child.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. There is an eligibility criteria that you would need to assess, and if your child meets the criteria you can ask to become a participant by completing an Access Request Form.

If your child is aged between 0 and 6 years of age, there is a specific service called Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) available.
