We pride ourselves on offering our families accurate and reliable information. That is why we take the time to discuss the fees that will apply to the services appropriate for your child. When we meet with you and your child, and gain an understanding of your budget, we can provide a true indication of any ongoing costs, and discuss available support systems including The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

As registered Medicare providers, we can work with your GP to provide therapy under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. The CDM scheme is initiated by your GP, and is available to children and adults with Chronic Care needs, including those with an Autism diagnosis. This Medicare rebate is available for five sessions of Allied Health therapy, including Speech Pathology, per calendar year.

Autistic children can access Medicare items under the Helping Children with Autism program provided they meet the requirements of each service and have not already accessed services under the Better Start for Children with a Disability initiative. A rebate of $77.10 is available for the following:

  • Up to four diagnostic / assessment services from a speech pathologist (item number 82005 – for a child under 13 years of age).
  • Up to 20 treatment services from a speech pathologist (item number 82020 – for a child under 15 years of age, providing a treatment and management plan is in place before their 13th birthday).

Please discuss with your GP to confirm eligibility or find more information here.

Private Health Cover

If you have a Private Health Care fund you may be eligible to claim a rebate for Speech Pathology assessment and therapy services. Contact your Private Health Care provider to find out more information.

A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology are Registered NDIS Providers which means you can access individual and group therapy services under a specific plan implemented for your child.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. There is an eligibility criteria that you would need to assess, and if your child meets the criteria you can ask to become a participant by completing an Access Request Form.

The NDIS also offers an Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach, which is specifically designed to support children under 7 years of age who have a developmental delay or disability. We recommend that if your child meets the criteria, particularly the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach, that you contact an Early Childhood Partner, Health Care Professional or the NDIS as soon as possible.

Find more information on accessing the NDIS here.
